DCC joins with other Davis congregations to respond to the events in Haiti. While financial donations are the best way to support relief efforts in Haiti, Church World Service has also put out an emergency request for Hygiene Kits. In the face of natural disasters, Hygiene Kits can mean the difference between sickness and health for struggling families. Instructions for DCCers. ~A Situation Report on delivery of the kits here.
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is responding in Haiti. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA ) is pleased to announce that $200,000 from funds designated for Haiti has been provided to the Hôpital Sainte Croix (Holy Cross Hospital) and the Faculte des Sciences Infirmiere l’Universite Episcopale d’Haiti (FSIL) nursing school in Leogane. Funds from PDA will be used to purchase and provide the following for the hospitals: electrical power and distribution systems, water pump, storage and distribution system, sanitary sewage lines and sewage containment and disposal system, diesel generator and fuel for diesel generators and vehicles.
The abundant generosity of shared blessings makes this possible. Thank you for your continued support. PDA has committed to providing at least $500,000 towards the response. PDA will be supporting communities in the long struggle to rebuild from this disaster — the worst earthquake to strike Haiti in 200 years. Please pray for those affected and give as you are able: - Checks may be made payable to Davis Community Church with a memo for PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Reflief).

The Presbyterian Washington Office is the public policy information and advocacy office of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Its task is to advocate, and help the church to advocate, the social witness perspectives and policies of the Presbyterian General Assembly. The church has a long history of applying these biblically and theologically-based insights to issues that affect the public — maintaining a public policy ministry in the nation's capital since 1946.
