Got Community
Who is DCC? PDF Print E-mail

DCC is a diverse congretation of people seeking God:  asking questions, searching for truth, listening to scripture and to one another.  We are interested in growing as Christians and in living out the Gospel's truth in our lives and work.  We want to help build God's realm of justice and truth throughout society.

DCC is committed to its bottom up leadership.  The ministries of the church are led by those who are most active in each area.  Meet the Lay Ministries.

If that's the kind of Christian community you're looking for, welcome home!

Sunday Coffee Hour PDF Print E-mail

It is long-standing tradition at Davis Community Church to gather after worship and meet those with whom we worship. Between services, coffee and refreshments are served and you are invited to join us. Often during Coffee Hour, one of the ministries of the church will be on hand to invite people to participate in upcoming events or distribute information. During the program year, Coffee Hour is at the back of the Sanctuary. During the summer months, punch and coffee are served on the C St patio.

Stop by, introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions you might have about Davis Community Church.

Upper Sanctuary Arts PDF Print E-mail

Gandhi Now
Facilitated by Vicky Powers, Nadene Donner, and Carol Stedronsky
Sunday mornings beginning September 19

How does Mahatma (Mahondas) Gandhi's message relate to us in the twenty-first century and how does this lead us to respond to his teachings and his hopes for humankind?

Come explore the life of Gandhi from the perspective of his grandson.  Read from Gandhi's own teachings and wisdom and discover how you resonate with his message through art and your original written word.  We will be sharing our work in our newly launched "art gallery" in the coffee gathering area of the Sanctuary in the weeks following the class.  This experience will culminate with the visit from Rajmohan Gandhi at Davis Community Church on October 24th.

The Upper Sanctuary, located upstairs in the Sanctuary building, is a place for creating art as an expression of faith. It is broadly defined and includes everything from sewing, knitting and needlework to soul collage, seasonal creations, and spiritual writing. No particular expertise is required. The Upper Sanctuary is a place for exploring faith in art at whatever level you enjoy.

Small Groups in Planning Stage (or envisioned for the future):

Families with Young Children

We have had a request for a small group to form for families with young children, a group that would allow them to do service together as a family.  This group also would need a facilitator to get started.

if you are interested in participating in this group or if you would like to lead such a group.

Pranayama

A group around pranayama, breath control, is being planned, to become conscious of breathing as preparation for reflection and/or meditation.  Watch for more details about this group next fall.

Companions in Christ
Among DCC’s small group offerings is Companions in Christ that provides:

   * A path to explore prayer, scripture, and your spiritual journey
   * An experience of God’s grace and love in daily times of reflection
   * A 28-week journey to a fuller life in Christ and your church community

At least one new Companions in Christ group will be starting in the fall.  The facilitators will work with those who are interested to find the time and day that works best for as many people as possible.  Enrollment is limited to eight participants in one group.

We are also planning some eight-to-ten week Companions in Christ offerings that focus on particular spiritual guidance topics.  Some of these will be for those who have alreadty completed the full companions progam while others will be open to anyone who is willing to commit to Companions for the 8-10 weeks.

Watch for updates on this website and in the Sunday weekly bulletins about groups that begin in the fall.
